Fairbury – James G. Dennis, 81, of Fairbury, died June 22, 2008 at 11:50PM at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 6-8:00PM at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Cremation will then be accorded. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 25,2008 at 11;00AM at First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury. Rev. Spencer Homan will be officiating. Private burial will take place at Dawson Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Home Sweet Home Mission or First Presbyterian Church.

James was born May 12, 1927 in Bloomington the son of Alva and Zelma James Dennis. They preceded him in death. He married Marilyn E. Zabel on November 22, 1947 in Cooksville. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Rev. David (Rita) Dennis of Celina, OH and Daniel B. Dennis of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Patricia Rosenboom of Niceville, FL and Carolyn Abbuhl of Pine Top, AZ. James was preceded in death by one grandson Timothy Dennis and one sister Romaine Dethridge.

James retired after 30 years as a Grain Dealer. He then owned and operated Jim's Upholstery.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.
He is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury where he served as past elder.
James was also a member of Bloomington American Legion Drum & Bugle Corp, Bloomington Jaycee's and was a Founding President of the Fairbury Jaycee's, Lion's Club, Masonic Lodge in Forrest, and was a Boy Scout Leader for 22 years.
He enjoyed woodworking and restoring furniture.
