Forrest: James William Gulliford Sr., 84, a lifetime resident of Forrest, died 10:55am Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Asta Care Center, Pontiac.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with the Rev. Janet Miller officiating. Burial will be at Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest with full military rites conducted by the J.A. Folwell American Legion. Visitation will be 10:00 to 1:45pm Tuesday at the Memorial Home.
Mr. Gulliford was born January 12, 1923 at Forrest, IL. The son of Oscar and Ethel Baker Gulliford. He married Delpha Davis on January 25, 1943.
Surviving are a son; James (Joyce) Gulliford Jr., Forrest, two daughters; Jacque (Bob) Schrock, Peoria, and Debra (Ron) Steidinger, Forrest.
Also surviving are two brothers; Ralph (Mary) Gulliford, Bloomington, Jerry Gulliford, Pontiac, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a brother William.
Mr. Gulliford was a 1941 graduate of Forrest Twp. High School and later served in the US Army during WWII. After serving in the army he was employed as a railroad operator for Wabash and N & W Railroad, which later became Norfolk & Southern Railroad.
He was a member of the Forrest American Legion; Ethel's Lodge; the Cropsey Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed golfing and collecting railroad memorabilia.
The family suggests memorials be directed to SELCAS or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
