Colfax – James Dale Hammitt, 93, of Colfax, passed away at 11:42am, October 18, 2016 at his residence.

Cremation has been accorded.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-3:00pm, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Lexington Community Center.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Dale was born March 23, 1923, in Winfield, KS, the son of Silas and Eva Robinson Hammitt.

Surviving are his friend and partner for 15 years, Phyllis Haney of Colfax; children, Dana (Herb) Eagan, Diane Hammitt, and Randy (Renae) Hammitt,; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Dale was a farmer in Colfax since 1954 and an auctioneer for many years.

He was a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau, Eagles, and Moose Lodges in Bloomington.
