Obituary

Naperville – James F. King, 84, of Naperville, passed away at 8:40 am, August 28, 2026, at The Auburge at Naperville.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, August 31, 2025, at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Fairbury. Fr. Scott Archer will be officiating.

Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be held from 9-9:45 am, Monday August 31, 2026, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

James was born May 20, 1942, in Aurora, the son of Donald and Doris Komes King.

He is survived by his partner and wife of 45 years, Claudia Oprondek King; children, Heather (Chris) McReynolds of Orland Park, Shawn McReynolds of Montgomery, and Brian McReynolds of Lee; grandchildren, Andrew McReynolds, Emily McReynolds, Olivia (Andrew) Carroll, Steven McReynolds, David (Elaina) McReynolds, Nathan (Kaley) Carroll, Cody Thill, Madeline McReynolds, Grace McReynolds, Bethany McReynolds, and Brandon McReynolds; siblings, Judy (James) Leonardi of Sugar Grove, Jeaneen (Duane) Suits of Geneva, John (Araceli) King of Valley Center, CA, and Janice Hills of Aurora; nieces and nephews, Jill Krieglstein Kula, Adam (Kelly) Keating, and Matthew (Courtney) Hills; great-nephews, Jacob Kula and Benjamin Hills; and great niece, Violet Hills.

He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Julie Krieglstein and nephew, Robert Krieglstein.

James was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam.

He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL and the Ornamental Growers Association.

James owned and operated King Nursery in Big Rock, IL. As a nurseryman, James created the Betula Nigra ‘Little King’ tree.

He enjoyed Classic Cars and competing as a Drag Racer and Boxer.
