Obituary

Pontiac – James W. Monroe 86, of Pontiac, formerly of Colfax, passed away at  2:30am, May 16, 2019, at OSF St. James –John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

His funeral will be held at 10:00am, Friday, May 24, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Pastor Chrissy Salser will be officiating.

Entombment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.

James was born September 2, 1932, in Ohio, KY the son of Hallie and Sylvia Felix Monroe.

He married Marilyn Beecher on February 12, 1960. She passed away August 13, 2016.

Surviving are his sons, Kenneth Monroe of Pontiac and Kerry (Stephanie) Monroe of Broken Arrow, OK; son-in-law, Mark Wiewel of Quincy; grandchildren, Caroline Wiewel, Anthony Wiewel, Amber Monroe, Stephanie Wiewel, Kyle Monroe, Matt Wiewel, Tyler Goggans, Mark Patrick Wiewel, and Madison Monroe; and brother, Randy (Joyce) Leach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen Wiewel, and one brother, Birch Monroe.

He retired from Nichol's Homeshield after 30 years.  He also delivered mail between Chenoa, Fairbury, and Forrest, Illinois for many years.  He was proud to work for the U.S. Postal Service.
