Obituary

James "Jim" Schahrer, 52, of Fairbury passed away at 11:41 am on Friday, July 19, 2013 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Funeral Services will be 11 am, Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Steven Livengood officiating. Cremation rites will take place following the service with inurnment to be held in Avoca Twp. Cemetery, Fairbury at a later date.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to, SELCAS, Fairbury American Legion Speedway- Fair or First United Methodist Church of Fairbury.

Jim was born April 30, 1961 in Fairbury the son of Jerry and Carol (Melvin) Schahrer. He married Shelley Scott on September 17, 1988 in LeRoy. She survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include, his parents, Jerry and Carol Schahrer of Crossville, TN; Mother and Father in law, Rader and Winnie Scott of Fairbury; his children, Steven (Gidget Gamblin) Schahrer of Mesa, AZ; Vanessa (Cory Anderson) Schahrer of Pontiac; Daniel Schahrer and Matthew Schahrer both of Fairbury; one sister, Kim (David) McWilliams of Fairbury; one brother, Mark (Lori) Schahrer of Fairbury; and 4 grandchildren, Dakota, Tiauna, Zarkias and Kamaury.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Schahrer and an infant daughter, Cassandra Schahrer.

Jim was an Agent-Financial Representative for Country Financial Insurance in Forrest. He was currently President of the Fairbury American Legion Speedway- Fair Board, President of the Northern Zone IAAF, SELCAS and First United Methodist Church of Fairbury.
