February 6, 1931 – March 28, 2017
James Edward Stymiest, 86 of Manville, passed away at 5:54 pm, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Heritage Healthcare, Streator.
Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, March 31, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Burial will follow in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery; with full military honors by Chenoa VFW and American Legion posts.
The family will have a private visitation and suggest that memorial contributions be directed to American Diabetes Association or Chenoa Methodist Church, Chenoa.
Mr. Stymiest was born February 6, 1931 in Vayland, SD; the son of Lester and Mary (Wegner) Stymiest. He married Shirley (Tinges) Doran on December 16, 1977 in Pontiac. His wife Shirley survives in Manville.
Other survivors include one son, Mark (Susan) Stymiest of Valparaiso, IN; one daughter, Barbara Colvin of Grand Rapids, MI; step-son, Mitchell (Jean) Doran of Dwight; one brother, Clair (Elaine) Stymiest of Rapid City, SD; one sister, Beverly Yost of Miller, SD; six grandchildren and six step grandchildren,1 great grandchild, many step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Boyd and Robert Stymiest, one sister, Virginia Huffman, son in-law, Liam Colvin, step son, Douglas Doran, 2 step daughters, Deborah Shockley and Mary Doran.
James served our country in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
