Obituary

James Walter Yoder, 71, Bloomington died at 9:30 am Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, FL.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at 2:00 pm in the North Danvers Mennonite Cemetery on Wednesday, February 25, 2009.

Jim was born October 12, 1937 in Bloomington, IL, the son of Walter Adreon and Marie Helen Marquis Yoder. He married Ann
Jones on July 11, 1958. He later married Patricia (Pils) Duffy on October 21, 1994 in Port Charlotte, FL. She survives in
Bloomington.

Also surviving is one son, J. Stephen (Amy) Yoder, Normal, IL, and two daughters, Nancy A. (Carl) Roth, St. Joseph, IL,
Michelle Y. (Don) Anderson, Fairfax Station, VA. Jim is further survived by his sister, Kay (Gary) Thompson, Excelsior, MN; two stepsons, Doug (Sasha) Duffy, Santa Fe, NM; Rob (Debbie) Duffy, Fairbury, IL; five grandchildren, Sarah Yoder, Eric and Nate Roth, Jeff and Nicole Anderson; and six step-grandchildren, Zane, Ruby and Charlotte Duffy; and Jackie, Alex and Elizabeth Duffy.

Jim graduated from University High School in 1955, Drake University in 1959, and he graduated with distinction from Drake University Law School in 1960. Jim was admitted to practice law in Illinois on October 19, 1960, where he began practicing with his father. Jim practiced law in Bloomington for almost 50 years. He was a member of the Bloomington
Country Club, the McLean County Bar Association, Seafood Club, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Jim was a past member of the Illinois Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He was also a past board member of the YMCA and the National Bank of Bloomington.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Illinois Wesleyan Development Office, or the Marie H. Yoder Scholarship Fund at the Mennonite College of Nursing c/o Illinois State University.
