Obituary

Jane Hable, 76, Fairbury, died at 9:05 am Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Kindred Hospital, Peoria.

Jane's family will host an open house at the home of Ron and Lori Peters from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Everyone is welcome to attend and share in the celebration of Jane's life and family. The address is 411 East Elm St., Fairbury. The open house will be relaxed and casual. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made directly to the family or to the Livingston County Humane Society. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Jane was born March 30, 1940 in Ottawa, IL the daughter of Hubert Lee and Margaret Anne Besse Underwood. She married Karl Knecht on August 8, 1958 he preceded her in death. She then married Lyle Peters on July 11, 1961 and later married Orville Hable MD on April 20, 1991 in Fairbury. He died on December 14, 2004.

Survivors include three children, Ron (Lori) Peters, Fairbury, Marge (Steve Wahl) Peters, Sibley, Cheryl (Tim) Wendland, Bloomington, two step sons, Mark (Penny) Hable, Forrest, Mike (Anita) Mann, Naperville, four grandchildren, Justin (Danielle Fozard) Peters, Minier, Corey Peters, Champaign, Jeremy Peters, Minier, Shelby Wendland, Chicago, one great granddaughter, Addilyn, four brothers, Al Underwood, Bakersfield, CA, Jack Underwood, Streator, Richard Underwood, St. Petersburg, FL, Steve (Linda) Underwood, Streator, two sisters, Becky (Danny) Hillyer, Streator, Elaine (Dennis) Gaydos, Granger, IN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Don Underwood, and one sister, Pat Ward.

Jane's greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She was so very proud of them and their accomplishments. She was known for her incredible cooking and baking skills especially her pies and homemade caramel corn. The food table in the press box for the Friday night Prairie Central football games will never be the same. She was also known for her talent with the sewing machine. Jane was especially proud of the wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses she created for many brides throughout the years.

Jane was happiest when she could do whatever was needed to care for her family and had a very close bond with her three sisters. She was a precious mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, daughter and sister. Our lives will forever be blessed because of her.

Jane's children have so many family, friends, and co-workers to thank for their love, support and prayers over these last few difficult months. They would like to extend special thanks to their Aunt Becky Hillyer for being with them every day throughout Jane's illness. Jane's daughters would also like to thank their aunt Elaine Gaydos and cousins Jayne and Becky Ward, Theresa Fowler, and Eileen Haughtigan for all the support and online conversations throughout the summer.
