Cypress, TX - Jane Louise Schleeter, age 89 of Cypress Tx passed away Saturday March 25, 2023, at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Tx . She was born February 27, 1934, in Canton IL.

She is survived by children, Gary (Elena) Schleeter of Viroqua WI, Mary Lynn Schleeter of Woodstock IL , Alan Schleeter of Joliet IL, Amy Jo Garcia of Woodstock Il and Ann Louise Schleeter of Cypress Tx; grandchildren Jeremiah ,Gidion, and Michael Schleeter , Erin Francis and Serena Laureano; greatgrandchildren, Richard Laureano, Jaylon, Daren, Addyson, Braden and Josyln Francis , Emma , Gavin, and Amelia Schleeter .

Jane was preceded in death by husband Richard Schleeter, and her parents Wilbur and Helen Hoffman.

Jane went to Illinois State University where she earned her BS degree and then went to National Louis University where she earned her MS. After graduating Jane spent time teaching in Volinia Township Mi and Decatur, MI. She retired from teaching in Plainfield, IL. While teaching in Plainfield, Jane started the Computer Education program at Indian Trail Junior High. Jane was the first to receive the National Board Certification in 1995 when it was first offered. She traveled to the White House for a reception given by then President Bill Clinton. Jane was selected as a Honoree of the Disney American Teacher Awards in 1996. Jane was part author of IMAST - Integrating Math and Science Technology textbook. After retiring in 1998 she did consulting work at schools across the country who were using this program.

Jane was a resident of Cypress Tx the past 19 years. She spent time on numerous vacations around the world. She enjoyed her grandchildren going to Band concerts, plays and numerous other events.

A memorial was held in Cypress for friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Duffy Pils Memorial Home 201 n Harrison St, Colfax IL 61728. After a brief service her ashes will be buried at Wiley Cemetery 19884 N 3300 East Rd, Colfax IL.
