Janella Louise Zimmerman, 29, Fairbury, died Saturday, May 6, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Azua, Dominican Republic.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the North Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Forrest.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 21225 East 670 North Road, Fairbury, IL and 9:00 to 10:15 am Tuesday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to Hospital Lumiere, Bonne Fin, Haiti, P.O. Box 227, Eureka, IL 61530 or the David Zimmerman Account, 9673 North 2200 East Rd., Fairbury, IL 61739.

Janella was born December 16, 1987, in Burlington, IA the daughter of Charles David and Charlene Louise Luthi Gerst. She married David Zimmerman on August 16, 2009 in Oakville, IA. He survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include their children, Orrin and Cassia Zimmerman, at home, her parents, Charles and Charlene Gerst, Morning Sun, IA, father and mother-in-law, Paul and Loretta Zimmerman, Fairbury, maternal grandmother, Della Luthi, Morris, MN and paternal grandmother, Elva Gerst, Mediapolis, IA.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and paternal grandfather.

Janella was a 2006 graduate of Wapello, IA High School. She was a licensed paramedic previously serving on the Mediapolis Community EMS; Superior Ambulance, Burlington, IA; Pro Ambulance, Champaign, IL and Forrest Fire Department. She currently was a missionary at the Hospital Lumiere, Bonne Fin, Haiti. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest.

Janella loved the Lord, her children and her husband with all her heart. She wanted to live her life in a way that others would see God's light in her. She would be thankful to know that her life and death touched so many people.
