Strawn – Janet Marcella Monahan, 87, of Strawn, passed away at 7:45am, March 28, 2018, at Gibson Area Hospital Annex, Gibson City.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Strawn. Fr. Scott Archer will be officiating.

Burial will in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Strawn.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Monday, April 2, 2018, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary recited at 4:30pm.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.

Janet was born January 16, 1931, in Strawn the daughter of Joe V. and Lillian Sutter Kuntz.

She married James Francis Monahan on November 12, 1955 in Fairbury. He passed away June 21, 1999.

Surviving are her sons, Dennis Monahan of Hanna City and Michael (Gail) Monahan of Strawn; grandchildren, Amanda (Tyson) Benway, Matt (Theresa) Monahan, Kellee (Keith Bosecker) Monahan, and Lyndsey Monahan; great-grandchildren, Seton Benway and Alexander and Francesca Monahan; sister, Bernadine Eyman of MN; and sister-in-law, Elaine Kuntz of Fairbury.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Kuntz.

Janet was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Strawn, serving on the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the Sunbeam Club in Fairbury.

She was the postmaster at Strawn post office for more than 35 years.

Janet was an avid Cubs and Bulls Fan and loved playing BINGO.
