Janice A. Maplethorpe, 69, of Forrest, passed away at 1:10 pm Sunday, September 17, 2023 at OSF St. James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 am, September 26th, 2023 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Pastor Deb Honegger will officiate. Burial will follow in Strawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, September 25th at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 10:30 – 11 am Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. The family encourages all guests to dress casually.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Humane Society.

Jan was born April 14, 1954 the daughter of James Alfred and Ethel Louise Andreas Maplethorpe. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and one brother, Jim Maplethorpe.

Jan is survived by her brother, Jay Maplethorpe, of Forrest ;  nephew, Collin (Princess) Maplethorpe, Taiwan ; and great-nephew, William Maplethorpe, Taiwan.

Jan was a graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School, class of 1972. Following high school she worked for 32 years at the print shop in Pontiac.

Jan enjoyed her trips with family to fish in Wisconsin where she caught bluegill after bluegill. She was an avid dirt track racing fan, both to watch the races and to buy new racing t-shirts to gift to loved ones. Her giving heart also was shown in her love of cats; she would take care of any cat that needed it.
