Forrest - Jerry W. Bachtold, 79, of Frostproof, FL; Formerly of Forrest went to be with Jesus at 11:03 pm, Friday, September 3, 2021 at Advent Health in Sebring, FL.
Private family services will be held with burial following at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Wing. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., PO Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064.
Jerry was born March 22, 1942 in Fairbury the son of Elmer L. and Wilma (Kupferschmid) Bachtold. His parents preceded him in death. He married Beverly Horine on June 3, 1962 in Forrest. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2009. He later married Elaine Klein on March 14, 2011 in Pontiac. Elaine, along with her son Leonard Klein survive in Frostproof, FL.
Also Surviving are three sons; Scott (Traci) Bachtold, Hudson, Matt (DeAnne) Bachtold, Brownsburg, IN, Brad (Beth) Bachtold, Decatur, one daughter; Shay (Dale) Wessels, Fairbury, five sisters, Shirley Denick, Sharon Metz, Verna Feely, Janice Settles, and Linda Kinder; twelve grandchildren; Joel and Jara Bachtold, Cale and Nate Bachtold, Austin and Oliva Bachtold, Brett and Kendall Eisenhauer, Jordan Steidinger, Ethan, Landon and Derek Wessels and 6 great grandchildren.
Mr. Bachtold was a member of the Westgate River Ranch Chapel, Florida. Jerry worked in the family business, Bachtold Brothers Weed Mowers in Forrest for many years. As an avid golfer in retirement and lover of Bluegrass music you could likely find Jerry playing a round of golf or at a Bluegrass festival or jamboree. His quiet demeanor and a smile that could light up a room will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
