Gibson City: Jerry Gene Small, 73 of Gibson City formerly of Colfax, died at 11:30 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2007 at his residence in Gibson City, IL.
Mr. Small was born February 7, 1933 in Colfax, a son to Milo and Merle (Burns) Small. He married Corrine Thomas in August of 1958 in Nashville, TN. She passed away on February 20, 1980.
Surviving are one daughter; Debra (Garth) Golden, one son; Jerry Jr. (Cheryl) Small, both of Anchor, two brothers Joseph (Pat) Small, Strawn, James (Marie) Small, Rolla, MO and two grandchildren.
His funeral is 1:30 pm, Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with Pastor Dan Jassman officiating the service. Burial will take place in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. The Colfax American Legion Post # 653 will accord full military rites. There will be no visitation.
His parents, 1 brother and 2 daughters preceded him in death.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Gibson City Bible Church or the Colfax Christian Church.
Jerry attended Gibson City Bible Church and was an avid fan of the "World Champion" St. Louis Cardinals. He didn't know a stranger and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He served his country from February 4, 1953 to January 10, 1957 in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
