JoAnn Holmes

JoAnn “Annie” Holmes, 86, Fairbury, died at 12:20 pm Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Annie was born September 28, 1939, in Fairbury, IL the daughter of Russell and Bernice Haab Lindenbaum. She married Merle Holmes on December 12, 1970, in Pontiac, IL. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2019.

Survivors include one sister, Jane Righter, Fairbury, one niece, Lori (Randy) Weber, one nephew, Jeff (Diana) Lindenbaum, great nieces and nephews, Milissa (Andy) Ommen, Matthew (Rachel) Aupperle, Tess (Dustin) Popejoy, Taylor (Dave) Langel, RJ Weber, Addie (Wes) Kostellic, and Jacob Fogal, and she was known as Nannie-Annie to 12 great great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by one brother, Dale Lindenbaum, two nieces, Denise Fogal and Kristi Aupperle.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:15 am Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. Her funeral will follow at 10:30 am with Pastor Marcia Buchs officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Annie was a 1957 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury.
