John A. Brandt, 62 of Chenoa died at 9:28 am, Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa with Pastor Jeremy Latzke officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and 10 to 11 am prior to the services at the Church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Chenoa 4th of July Committee or OSF St. Francis Medical ICU, Peoria.
John was born December 24, 1952 in Fairbury; the son of Russell V. and Betty L. (Leetch) Brandt Sr. He married his High School sweetheart, Diane Rhoda on September 1, 1973 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Chenoa. Diane survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include his children, Angie Brandt of Chenoa; Mike (Sarah) Brandt of Bloomington; two precious granddaughters, Hadley and Haven Brandt, two sisters, Judy (Leon) Gibson of LeRoy; Janis Piercy of Normal; one brother, Russell V. "Jack" (Bobbi) Brandt Jr. of San Angelo, TX; his Father and Mother in law, Fred and Elaine Rhoda of Chenoa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joy Brandt and one sister in law, Karen Augspurger.
John was a licensed plumber for the state of Illinois and belonged to Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #99 in Bloomington. In retirement he enjoyed playing farmer, hauling grain for the Seeman family in Chenoa. He loved camping, 4th of July celebration and cooking.
John never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in their time of need. His spirit of giving was carried out till the very end, helping others with the gift of life carried out by the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.
