Chenoa– John "Jack" Sage Fares, of Chenoa, formerly of Peoria, passed away peacefully, Monday April 13, 2009 at 10:50 am at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at First United Church of Gridley. Rev. David Jones of Plainfield, IL will be officiating.
Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, IL at a later date.

Jack was born September 13, 1921 in Kansas City, MO the son of John W. and Frances E. Fares. He married Helen M. Alexander on October 13, 1951 in Peoria. She survives in Chenoa.

Also surviving are two daughters, Martha (Dick) Dean of LeRoy and Patricia (Rusty Runholt) Fares of San Diego, CA; grandson Elliot Dean of LeRoy; nephew William (Laura) Fares of Tilton and Cousin Fred (Martha) Frisse of Evansville, IN.

He was preceded in death by one brother William Fares.

Jack graduated from Peoria High School in 1941 and Bradley University in 1949 where he majored in business.

He is a veteran of the United States Army Air Force where he was a Tech Sergeant from 1942-1945 during WWII.

He worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation from 1951 to 1980, and part time at the Peoria Park District in the Golf Operation from 1980 -2001. He was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross for 45 years, and delivered Meals on Wheels for 21 years from 1980 -2001.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was also a member of the Peoria Optimist Club and the Peoria YMCA.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Church of the donor's choice or Meadow Mennonite Retirement Community.
