Fairbury – John C. Gavin, 72, of Fairbury, passed away at 1:22pm, September 13, 2022, at his residence.

Cremation has been accorded.

John was born October 9, 1949, in Peoria, the son of John J. and Ruth Ticehurst Gavin. He married Rochelle Mangold on October 2, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughters, Tonya (Denny Lewis) Catron of Peoria, Leah (Ken Reed) Bailey of East Peoria, and Kathleen Gavin of Fairbury; grandchildren, Sara (Ben) Josleyn, Stephanie (Brandon) Rogers, and Missy Pople; great-grandchildren, Aedan, Adalyn, and Autumn Josleyn and Sebastian James; and brother, William (Dorothy) Gavin of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Susan Gavin.

John last taught in Pontiac at the alternative school.

He was an avid Packers fan. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

John loved his family and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed.
