John "Jack" Kennedy, 70, of Fairbury, Ill. passed away at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home in rural Fairbury surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation rites have been accorded and visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wed., May 3, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 am, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating.  A family Inurnment will take place at South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Spence Farm Foundation or Prairie Central FFA.

Jack was born December 5, 1946 in Ottawa, IL; the son of Michael P. and Velma (Schuette) Kennedy. His parents preceded him in death. He married Mary Hallinan on December 28, 1968 in Washington, Ill. His wife Mary survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Michael (Dana) Kennedy of Champaign; David Kennedy of Portland, Ore.; Matthew Kennedy of Forrest; six grandchildren, Claire, Patrick, James, Nora, Aiden and Allison Kennedy.

Jack graduated from Seneca High School in 1964. He earned Bachelor and Masters degrees from University of Illinois.  Jack was involved with many areas of agriculture. He was an Ag teacher, later an Ag business banker at National Bank of Fairbury.  As a consultant, he did land appraisals and tax preparation for his many farming clients. He had a deep love for farming and enjoyed the many clients he served throughout the years. He served on several boards including the Spence Farm Foundation and Prairie Central School Board.

He is deeply and sorely missed by all who know and love him.
