Obituary
Chenoa – John E. Kratz, 76, of Chenoa formerly of the Quad Cities, passed away at 6:32pm, July 8, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
Burial will be in Chenoa Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to an education fund established for his grandchildren.
John was born October 20, 1936 in Iowa City, IA the son of John A. and Mary Perryman Kratz. He married Leola M. "Lee" Thompson on September 20, 1958 in East Moline. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Randy (Debbie) Kratz of Normal, Ronda (Dean Spiker) Kratz of Colona,and Jason D. Kratz of Moline; grandchildren, Rachael (Shawn) Hernandez, Christopher (Krystal) Kratz, and Kimberly (Erik Davis)Kratz, Jon Werner, and Logan Kratz; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Ayden Hernandez and Hunter Kratz; sister, Ruth Howlett of Davenport, IA; nephew, Oran Brown of Oshkosh, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
John worked as a small parts assembler for Kone Elevator in Coal Valley for 35 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
John was a member of Chenoa United Methodist Church.
John enjoyed bowling, fishing, NASCAR, and was an avid Cardinal and Packers fan.
