John L. Householder, 92, Fairbury died at 2:40pm Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his residence in Fairbury.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with Rev. Spencer Homan officiating. Burial will be in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury; Dominy Memorial Library; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Householder was born September 1, 1918 in Fairbury, IL the son of John L. and Flora Lindenbaum Householder. He married Dorothy Hieronymus on December 21, 1940 in Fairbury, IL. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (John) Fry, Scottsdale, AZ; one son, John N. Householder, Fairbury, IL; one granddaughter, Nicole (Mark) Borgman; and two great grandchildren, Harrison and Emma Borgman; one brother, Fred Householder, Fairbury.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Dean and Duane Householder and one sister, Norma Brown.
John was a 1936 graduate of Fairbury Twp High School and a longtime farmer (1937-1980). He was an eighty year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury having served in various offices including Presbyterian Elder and Treasurer. He served on the Fairbury-Cropsey school board, was a life member of the NRA; Fairbury Sportsman Club; 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the Graceland Cemetery board for decades. His hobbies included reading, hunting and fishing. He traveled to Africa to hunt big game, elk and moose in Alaska and pheasant and deer in Illinois.
John was devoted to Fairbury and its organizations, the First Presbyterian Church, to his wife Dorothy, their children, granddaughter and two great grandchildren, but most of all, devotion to God.
