Obituary

Fairbury – John G. Lorch, 89, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:06pm, Saturday, June 6, 2015, at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Funeral will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. Pastor Tom Krieger will be officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Where military honors will be performed by the Fairbury VFW and American Legion.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45am on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Dominy Memorial Library or Brian Munz Safety Complex.

John was born December 15, 1925 in Weston, the son of George and Anna Mary Readle Lorch.

He married Mary Ann Munz on June 5, 1953 in Fairbury. She passed away September 16, 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Schwartz of Kankakee, and Diane Toombs of Pontiac; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray and Carl Roeseler and Ben Lorch and three sisters, Marie Kohlman, Ida Ruth Roach and Rose Bushman.

John attended county grade school and graduated from Fairbury High School. He worked for Hadaway Texaco Station in Fairbury until he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served during WWII in the Pacific Theater.

He started farming the family farm upon returning from the service.

John served on the Weston Grain Co. board. He was a trustee for Yates Township and an elder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chenoa where he was a member. He currently is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury.

John and his wife opened their home and their hearts to foster children for many years.
