John H. Oltman Sr., 86 of Chenoa passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at his daughter's residence in Franklin, TN.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa with full military rites conducted by the Chenoa VFW and American Legion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
Mr. Oltman was born October 9, 1924 in Pike Township, the son of Fred & Elsie (Bauman) Oltman. He married Marcella Hoselton on August 2, 1942 in Missouri. She passed away on May 7, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, John H. (Patricia) Oltman Jr., Pontiac, Edward P. (Barbara) Oltman, Symra, TN, one daughter, Pamela J. Freese, Franklin, TN, one brother, Charles (Bernadine) Oltman, Pontiac; seven grandchildren, Carree Oltman, Ryan (Kathy) Oltman, Todd Offill, Trent Offill, Hope (Carl) Herzog, Chad (Lori) Oltman, and David P. (Amy) Freese, fourteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
John served our country in the US Army during WWII. He was a lifetime farmer in Pike Twp. area and enjoyed his woodworking shop during his retirement. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
