Obituary
John Raymond Staszak-Smith, 60, Fairbury, died at 4:45 pm Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 1:00 to 1:45 pm Monday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church youth group, Fairbury.
Mr. Smith was born April 15, 1954 in Chicago, IL the son of Raymond and Frances Matuzas Staszak. In 1983 he met Bonnie Smith and they were married on August 19, 1989 in Oak Lawn, IL. She survives in Fairbury, IL.
Other survivors include 3 sons, John Staszak Jr., Canon City, CO; Bradley Joseph and Daniel James Smith, both of Fairbury, IL; 1 daughter, Christina Payne, Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandchildren and 1 sister, Lisa Wegrzyn, Plainfield, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Smith had been employed as a mechanic for 22 years and was a stay at home dad after the birth of his son, Bradley.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury, the Boy Scouts of America and the NRA.
