Jose L. "Joe" Speedon, Sr, 62, of Fairbury, died March 14, 2007 at 9:20PM at his residence.
Cremation will be accorded. Friends may greet the family on Monday, March 19, 2007 form 5:30-6:30PM at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. A memorial service will then be held also on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 6:30PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Joe was born on May 23, 1944 in LaGrulla, TX a son of Jose L. and Onodelia Tijerina. The preceded him in death.
He married Fern Webb on November 17, 1967 in Ottawa, IL. She survives in Fairbury. Also surviving are one son Jose L. "Joey" Speedon, Jr of Fairbury; three daughters, Sandra (Steven R.) Williams of Smithfield, IL, Bonny (Bo) Strickland and Connie Stalter both of Hockley, TX; three brothers, George (Delphina) Speedon of Mission, TX, Antonio Lopez and Domingo Lopez both of Reynosa, Mexico and Chewy Lopez of Mexico; one sister Dalores Lopez of Reynosa, Mexico; sister and brother –in-law Rosemary and Lynn Todd of Pontiac; niece and nephew Janice and Oscar Rodriguez of Danville; and special friends Harold and Cheryl Martin of Fairbury; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Joe worked for Eppel Construction in Pontiac. He was a member of the Local Laborers 362 in Bloomington and the NRA.
He enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, camping, boating, and rock collecting.
He loved to cook especially for Super bowl parties at the VFW in Fairbury.
Most of all Joe loved his family.
