Fairbury – Joseph W. Moore, 72 of Fairbury, died at 3:04 pm, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date.   Memorial contributions may be directed to SELCAS of Fairbury or directly to his family.

Joe was born May 18, 1951 in Fairbury; the son of George and Eulalia (Hohulin) Moore. He married Helen Smith on November 29, 1985 in Forrest. His wife Helen, survives in Fairbury.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kim Moore of Maine; one son, David Smith of Forrest; two sisters, Lena Kestner of Forrest; Mary Hinkleman of Pontiac; four grandchildren, Michael Hoover, Richard "Ricky" Hoover, David Smith Jr. and Erik Smith; a special niece Janet Hillyer, his K-9 companion, Cocoa; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

His parents, two sisters, Lillie Ann Moore and Susie Smock and daughter, Leona Hoover preceded him in death.

Joe enjoyed watching the different construction projects in the area, football, FALS, and spending time with his family.

Joe was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, and grandfather. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
