Colfax – Joyce W. Brinkman, 89, of Colfax, passed away at 9:00pm, Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Funeral will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Colfax Christian Church. Pastor Patti Meyer will be officiating.

Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.

Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Friday, April 11, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Colfax Christian Church.

Joyce was born April 4, 1925 in Colfax the daughter of Francis and Marguerite Newton Withers.

She married Jack W. Brinkman on February 26, 1956 in Colfax. He died April 28, 2004.

Surviving are Jay (Diane) Brinkman of Goodland, IN and Jeff Brinkman of Fairfield Twp., OH; grandchildren, Jaise (Teri) Brinkman, Tyler (Heather) Brinkman, Maggie (Ryan) Bridgeman, Kaitlyn (Tyler) Ward, Laura Brinkman, and Caleb Brinkman; great-grandchildren, Caidyn Brinkman, Kylie Brinkman, Mason Bridgeman, Delilah Bridgeman, Beau Brinkman and Colton Ward due to arrive in May; siblings, Ralph (Sharon) Withers of Springfield, MO, Harold (Judy) Withers of Scottsdale, AZ, Sharon (Bill) Hammond of Rantoul, and Donald (Carol) Withers of Normal.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Roger Withers.

Joyce graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1948. Where she earned her teaching degree and taught home economics in Hopedale, Danvers and Lincoln

She was a dedicated member and held many positions of the Colfax Christian Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Emblem Club. Joyce enjoyed her work on the election board and was an avid collector of elephants with their trunks up.
