Karon Ann (Foley) Burton, 84, of Pontiac, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Karon was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a wonderful source of love and encouragement to those fortunate enough to know her.
Karon had a love for traveling and attending bluegrass festivals, where she enjoyed the music, friendships, and memories made along the way. She especially enjoyed going on Princess Cruises, exploring new places, and making memories through her travels. She also enjoyed camping, crocheting, and occasionally playing her guitar. These simple pleasures brought her happiness and created many cherished memories.
Karon dedicated her early years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. She later entered the workforce, beginning in the Central Supply department at Saint James Hospital. She went on to work in bookkeeping at Pontiac National Bank and ultimately retired from FreeStar Bank. Karon had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac since 1967 and had also served as a deacon of the church.
Above all, Karon cherished her family. She was a wonderful mother and a constant encourager, always offering support and believing in those she cared about. Her kindness and encouragement will be remembered and treasured by her family for generations to come.
Karon is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John Burton; her son, Tim (Lisa) Burton; her daughter, Marcie Burton, with whom she shared a birthday; her grandchildren, Celina (Zach) Taylor and Halle (Scotty) Roberts; and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn Roberts, Raely Roberts, and Wyn Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Foley and Alma “Tiny” (McWhorter) Foley, and her brother, Jerry Foley.
Karon leaves behind a legacy of love, encouragement, and cherished memories. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the lives she touched will continue to carry her memory forward.
