Obituary
Katherine L. Parkhill, 103, Fairbury died at 6:07 am Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with the Rev. Tom Krieger officiating. Inurnment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago at a later date.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 1:45 pm Saturday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury.
Mrs. Parkhill was born May 11, 1906 in Alton, IL the daughter of Boston A. and Delia L. Tomlinson Corbett. She married Harold Vincent Parkhill on October 3, 1928 in Chicago. He died December 11, 1977.
Surviving is a half sister, Jean M. Fox, Laguna Woods, CA and a nephew, John Fay, Wilmette, IL.
She is preceded in death by a son, Harold R. Parkhill and a half sister, Frances Fay.
Mrs. Parkhill was a registered nurse who graduated from Grant Hospital, Chicago in 1927. She worked as a private duty nurse and was on staff at Evanston Hospital retiring in 1963. She and her husband, Harold lived in the Chicago and Evanston area until 1972 at which time they moved to Fairbury.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury and the Miriam Circle of her church. She also served as a Deacon in her church. She volunteered for Lifeline at Fairbury Hospital, was a member of the Women's Club and the Shakespeare club.
