Kathleen Grider, 93 of Livingston Manor, Pontiac formerly of Chenoa died at 1:25 am, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Livingston Manor, Pontiac where she has resided the past several years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Her Funeral Service will be at 11 am, Friday, January 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Pontiac with Rev. Dr. James O. Wolf III officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa, IL.
Mrs. Grider was born June 15, 1915 in Jamestown, KY the daughter of John Berry Wesley and Effie (Burchett) Barnes. She married Everett G. Grider December 24, 1937 in Russell Springs, KY. He passed away, November 26, 1994.
Surviving are one son; Danny (Connie) Grider, Pontiac, four daughters; Kay Birch, Chenoa, Nancy (Terry) Pickett, Chenoa, Mary Jo Grau, Chenoa, Sue Dombrowski, Charlotte, NC, fourteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, five sisters and son in law Bill Birch.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Bacone College, Muskogee, OK.
Kathleen was a member of First Baptist Church of Pontiac was an avid quilter and loved to read. She was employed for over 20 years as a teacher's aid at Chenoa Grade School for Kindergarten classes, playground supervisor and lunch room supervisor. At her church in her earlier years she taught Sunday school, youth groups, Bible school and enjoyed the fellowship of the Homebuilders Sunday school class.
