Kenneth Dale Orendorff (98) of Colfax, Illinois and Sun Lakes Arizona passed away Sunday morning June 24, 2018 in Gilbert Arizona.
He was born July 10, 1919 in Bloomington, Illinois, and is a fifth generation descendant of William Orendorff, a pioneer of Bloomington. He is survived by his wife Rose E Meiners Orendorff. They were married Easter Sunday April 9, 1944. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this past April.
He is survived by his two sons Thomas (Laurie) and Phillip (Donna). He has eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He served in the Horse Calvary and the Army Air Corp for four years during World War II. He retired from Meiners Farm Service in 1994. After retiring he split his time between Arizona and Illinois. He relocated to Arizona in 2013.
He was a member of the Colfax Christian Church, the Sun Lakes Community Church and the Supreme Council 33 Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. He also was an avid golfer, Cubs fan and Illini fan.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Blooming Grove Cemetery, Bloomington, where military honors will be performed by the Davis-Kerber American Legion Post, Colfax.
A celebration of his life will take place at 2:00pm also on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Airport, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
