Kenneth E. Shane, 84 of Chenoa died at 10:46 pm, Thursday, June 6, 2019 at his residence in Chenoa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, June 10, 2019 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Chenoa with Pastor Jeremy Latzke and Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm Sunday, June 9, 2019 also at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Chenoa. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Chenoa or the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Shane was born January 3, 1935 in Pontiac; the son of David and Carrie (Russell) Shane. He married Carolyn Schuler on February 5, 1956 in Chenoa. His wife, Carolyn survives in Chenoa. His parents preceded him in death.
Also Surviving are one son, David Shane of Chenoa; two daughters, Debra (Dr. John) Bandy of Normal, Dee Ann (Dennis) Foor of Gridley; eight grandchildren, Myles and Maggie Shane, Alex (Erin) Roth, Luke (Amy) Roth, Ben Roth, Jake (Stephanie) Foor, Seth and Max Foor; one great-grandson, Ford Roth; brother, James (Janice) Shane of Nevada; sister, JoAnn Moit of Pontiac.
Kenny served our country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. Not only did Kenny proudly serve our country for 40 years, service was just a natural part of his life. He taught in the Chenoa Schools for 27 years retiring in 1990. Kenny continued to substitute teach in area schools until November of 2018. He was an active member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Chenoa.
He deeply loved Christ, his family, and his country. He loved to remind people that "Every Day is a good day…. some are just better than others!" He will be greatly missed.
