Obituary

Kimmie "Kim" D. Young, 56, of Washington, IL formerly of the Forrest-Fairbury area passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Templepatrick, Ireland while away on business for Caterpillar Inc.

His funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Township Cemetery, Forrest, IL.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2011 also at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury has charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to The Solid Organ Transplant Fund, c/o St. Vincent's Foundation, 8402 Harcourt Rd., Suite 210, Indianapolis, IN 46260 or The Landon Young Benefit Fund, c/o; Busey Bank, 115 North Third St., Fairbury, IL 61739.

Kim was born November 22, 1955, in Fairbury, IL, the son of Gayland and Betty (Frye) Young. He married Rebecca "Becky" Doran on May 5, 1980. She survives in Washington, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Other survivors include his children, Scottie (Casey McCauley) Young of Dunlap, IL; Ali Young of Mattoon, IL; Landon Young of Champaign, IL; Jeni (Aaron) Gerber of Fairbury, IL; four sisters, Brenda (Richard) Horine of Forrest, IL; Teresa (Greg) Hofmann of Witchita, KS; Statta (Scott) Shafer of Chatsworth, IL; Tina Mogged of Flanagan, IL; and six grandchildren, Justice, Attisson, Peniel, Aniya, Alia and Baxter.

Kim was a 1973 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School and later was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for 34 years. Kim was a selfless man who touched the lives of many. His favorite time of year was Christmas, where he would experience the joy of giving to families in need and in return be humbled for his good deeds. He had a sense of humor that was infectious to all and a heart made of gold.

He will be remembered not only for his dedication to his career, his passion for gardening and music, but most importantly he will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.
