Chenoa: L. Dale "Tex" Vanhouten, 73 of Chenoa, died at 1:01 am, Monday, October 20, 2008 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Bloomington.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa with Pastor Christian Ricker officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Tex was born July 10, 1935 in Pana., IL a son to Bruce and Pauline McCullum Vanhouten. He married Rose Marie Lee in Chenoa on December 16, 1961. She survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are three children: Ken Vanhouten, Chenoa, Ron (Barb) Vanhouten, Chenoa, Tina (Rodney) Lusher, San Jose, IL, one sister; Joyce (Larry) Petersen, Louisville, IL and eight grandchildren; Jessica & Heather White, Travis & Michelle Vanhouten, Morgan, Quaid, Mahlea & Nevaeh Lusher.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother; Gerald Vanhouten.
He was a member of Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa, and a former member of the Chenoa Ambulance Service and school bus driver for Chenoa and Prairie Central School Dist. He was employed by Pontiac Furniture, Pontiac for over 20 years and also was owner –operator of T&T Upholstering and Vanhouten Upholstering for over 35 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends who will miss him deeply.
