Obituary
Colfax – Larry E. Dorrell, 68, of Colfax, passed away at 4:47am, May 15, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Cremation has been accorded.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Pastor Patti Meyer will be officiating.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, McLean County Humane Society, or Colfax Christian Church.
Larry was born September 12, 1945 in Bloomington the son of Adlai and Edna Kagel Dorrell. They preceded him in death.
He married Karen Iler on February 23, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are his, mother-in-law, Mary Iler of Colfax; his children, Lance (Amy) Dorrell of Normal, Angeline (Matt) Hempstead of Downs, and Jonathon (Virginia) Dorrell of Bloomington; grandchildren, Noah, Sam, Grace, Wyatt and Shelby Dorrell and Logan and Sarah Hempstead; sister, Alice Meads of Normal; brothers, Lynn Dorrell of Bloomington and Merlin (Connie) Dorrell of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Larry graduated from Bloomington High School. He then served in the United States Navy as a Seabee for two tours in Vietnam.
He retired from Bridgestone Firestone in 2008 after 34 years.
Larry is a member of the Colfax Christian Church.
