Fairbury – Larry Russell, 73, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:30pm, September 18, 2020, at his residence.

Cremation has been accorded.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Livingston County Humane Society.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Larry was born January 8, 1947, in Louisville, KY, the son of Alton and Jane Burgess Russell.

He married Mary Denaple on April 13, 1985. She survives in Fairbury.

Also surviving are his children, Kevin (Beth) Russell of Fairbury, Stephanie Russell of Chandler, AZ, John (Rachael Gladden) Russell of Glenarm, and James (Kristen Steidinger) Russell of Fairbury; grandchildren, Devin Russell and Kayleigh Garrett; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Bernadine Denaple of Fairbury.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michel Russell.

Larry was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam War.

He began working at Paternoster Ford in the 1970's as a mechanic and retired in 2010.

Larry had a talent for building and fixing just about anything. He enjoyed building RC airplanes and most recently guitars. He found great joy when people in the community would bring him their cars, mowers, etc. to fix.
