Obituary

Lawrence Allen Brucker, 87, Cropsey, IL, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Monday (October 29, 2007) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colfax, IL. Father Carl LoPresti will officiate. Burial will be in Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey, IL. There will be a vigil at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury followed by a visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Lawrence was born April 1, 1920, a son of Louis A. and Lillian Kerber Brucker. He married Vera Lorraine Thomas on April 17, 1943, in Cropsey. She preceded him in death.

His survivors include one daughter, Elaine (Bill) Mies, College Station, Texas, three sons, Paul (Janice) Brucker, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Richard (Charlotte) Brucker, Cropsey, Illinois, and Thomas L. Brucker, Chatsworth, Illinois.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Elizabeth (John Thomas) Maldonado, Temple, Texas and their children, John Nolan, Matthew Lawrence, and Liliana Elizabeth, Patrick (Jana) Mies, Overland Park, Kansas; Jacqueline (Alvaro) Martinez, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joseph Brucker, Chicago, Illinois; Derek Brucker, Springfield, Illinois, Dustin Brucker, Ames, Iowa, Dagan Brucker, Macomb, Illinois, Molly Brucker, Austin, Texas, Shannon Brucker, Champaign, Illinois and Zachary Brucker, Carbondale, Illinois.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Everett, Ronald, and Lyle and sisters, Dorothy Kerchenfaut and Josephine Cooperider. Survivors include a brother Bernard Brucker and sisters, Norene Brandt and Virginia Taylor.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Colfax, Illinois, and was past Secretary-Treasurer of the Cropsey Fire Department. He farmed in the Cropsey area all his life and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Colfax or Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
