Obituary

Lee G. Fillingham, 86, of Chenoa, died at 2:25 pm, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the United Methodist Church of Chenoa with Pastor Rob McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa with military rites conducted by Chenoa VFW Post #8350.

Mr. Fillingham was born February 23, 1922 in Pontiac, IL a son to Gordon and Ruth (Grandy) Fillingham. He married Glenna Cable on August 18, 1946 in Chenoa, IL. She survives in Chenoa.

Also surviving are three children; Gary (Linda) Fillingham, Bloomington, Lou Ann (Daniel) Cavanaugh, Bloomington, Avis (Brian) Hall, LaQuinta, CA, two sisters; Marian Hebenstreit, Glen Ellyn, IL, Doris Brown, Pontiac, IL, and four grandchildren; Stephanie Koets, Yale Fillingham, Chase Fillingham and Nathan Cavanaugh.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

Lee was a 1940 graduate of Pontiac Township H.S. and attended Shirtliff College, Alton, IL and Illinois State University, Normal. He was a lifetime farmer in the Chenoa area and a member of the United Methodist Church of Chenoa. During WWII he served our country on the USS Chester T. O'Brien in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic as well as the Pacific oceans from 1942 to 1945. Mr. Fillingham enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the United Methodist Church of Chenoa or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
