Leona "Lee" I. Poppe, 80, Lexington, died at 3:30 pm Sunday, November 20, 2016 at her residence in rural Lexington.

Lee was born September 2, 1936 in Roanoke, IL the daughter of Emil and Frieda Huschen Kruse. She married Robert Keith Poppe on December 3, 1983 in Arkansas. He died on September 15, 2016.

Survivors include their children, Donald (Adrienne) Boswell, El Paso, Bryan (Dee Dee Allen) Boswell, Kappa, Kevin (Dawn) Poppe, Lexington, Kurt (Katie) Poppe, Hudson, Kris Poppe, Plainfield, Keith Poppe, Rantoul, 8 grandchildren, Jayme (Jeff) Zehr, Jenna (Matthew) Vissering, Elizabeth McCuen, Christine (Eric) Hodges, Krista, Maeley, Sydney and Daniel Poppe, 4 great grandchildren, Abygail and Owen Zehr, Joan and Charlie McCuen.

She is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Renee Poppe and 2 brothers.

Lee was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington.

Per Lee and Bob's request a joint Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 28, 2016 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington with the Rev. David Bergelin officiating. Inurnment will be in Chenoa Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Chenoa VFW.

Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:45 am Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting with arrangements.
