Obituary
Leonard L. Rieger, 93, Fairbury and formerly of Forrest, went to be with the Lord at 4:30 am, Monday, August 19, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
A time to greet the family and celebrate Leonard's life will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. A private family graveside service will be held at Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Project Amazon, PO Box 3253, Peoria, IL 61612 or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Leonard was born June 5, 1920 in Strawn, IL the son of Emanuel and Emma Aellig Rieger. He married Mary Ann Aberle on June 29, 1947 in Princeville, IL. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2012.
Surviving are his children: Rita (Steve) Metz, Forrest; Mary Beth (Robert) Decker, Fairbury; Kathleen (Dennis) Davis, Forrest; Lorie (Phil) Hermes, Fairbury; Scott (Jeanne) Rieger, Indianapolis, IN; thirteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Eleanora Lehmann, one granddaughter, Rachael Davis and one infant grandson.
Leonard was a graduate of Strawn High School. After graduation he served in the US Army during WWII. He later owned and operated Rieger Motors, Forrest for nearly fifty years. He was of the Christian faith, loved his Lord & cherished his family.
