Obituary

Lester J. Roth, 86, Forrest went to be with the Lord at 5:40 pm Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the North Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Forrest.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Monday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home or to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.

Mr. Roth was born August 2, 1922 in Forrest, IL, the son of Daniel J. and Carrie Rieger Roth. He married Ruth M. Honegger on June 6, 1948. She survives in Forrest.

Also surviving are his children, L. John (Karen) Roth, Shelbina, MO, Sharon (John) Payne, Fairbury, IL, Ken (Debra) Roth, Forrest, IL, Tim (Diane) Roth, Germantown Hills, IL; a son-in-law, Takis Paplomatas, Normal, IL; four brothers, Elmer (Wilda) Roth, Chenoa, IL, Earl (Marilyn) Roth, Scottsdale, AZ, Marvin (Dorothy) Roth, LaSalle, IL, Leonard (Marilyn) Roth, Forrest, IL; one sister, Leona Leman, Fairbury, IL; one brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Kilgus, Forrest, IL; one sister-in-law, Wanda Roth, Mt. Pleasant, IA; fourteen grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Stella Paplomatas, Alexander Paplomatas, Andrew (Nicole) Roth, Jennifer (Thomas) Trautman, Daniel Roth, Mandalyn Payne, Nicholas (Lori) Roth, Jonathan Roth, Zachary Roth, Olivia Roth, Eliza Roth, Travis Roth, Christian Roth and Chad Roth; and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Roth is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Paplomatas; two brothers, William Henry and Eldon Roth; and two sisters, Barbara Kilgus and LaVerne Roth.

Mr. Roth enjoyed working in the agricultural field having sold feed and farm buildings for many years. He also was engaged in farming near Forrest.

He was a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church, where he was baptized in the spring of 1951. He attended this church until he was called home to be with the Lord.
