Lester Zimmerman 85, of Fairbury, passed away at 9:13am on November 4, 2010 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Funeral will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 6, 2010 at Forrest Apostolic Christian Church. Ministers of the church will be officiating.

Burial will be in South Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury.

Visitation will be held from 4-8:00pm on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and from 12p-12:45pm on Sunday at the Church.

Lester was born October 9, 1925 in Fairbury, IL the son of Samuel and Louise Koehl Zimmerman.

He first married Edith Louise Steffen on April 24, 1948. She died July 4, 1998. He then married Louise Steffen
Furrer on September 30, 1998. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Steve (Patsy) Zimmerman of Morris, Jay (Roberta) Zimmerman, Sam (Karla) Zimmerman both of Fairbury, and Cal (Ann) Zimmerman of Forrest; daughter Peggy (Alan) DeFries of Fairbury; step-children, Julie (Jack) Cotter of Lexington and Sam (Pam) Furrer of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; sister Doris Kachelmuss of Forrest; brother-in-law, Herman (Marilyn) Steffen of Miami, FL.

Lester was a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church and the Cast Iron Seat Club.

He was a lifelong farmer, avid antique collector and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Memorials may be made to the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church or Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
