Lillian W. Ferguson, 93, of Chenoa, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009, at 1:30pm at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Chenoa United Methodist Church with visitation from 12:30-2:00 p.m. The Rev. Robb McCoy will be officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Mrs. Ferguson was born February 6, 1915, in Kempton the daughter of Charles and Laura Cook Adams. They preceded her in death. She married Harold
Ferguson on December 27, 1940, in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on August 17, 1968.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Joe) O'Connor of Spencer, IN and Jolene Simmons of Flanagan; four grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Webster of Spencer, IN, Brad (Michelle) Cuttill of Abbeville, SC, Carol (Doug) Seeman of Chenoa, Kelly (Todd) Nichols of Farmer City; ten great grandchildren, Zac and Cassie Webster, Ethan and Dane Cuttill, Carlyn , Bryton and Trey Seeman and Travys, Lane and Kade Nichols; one sister Eileen Sawyer of California. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mrs. Ferguson graduated from Kempton High School and then continued her education at Illinois Wesleyn University and Illinois State University. She taught in country schools for four years and then taught at Chenoa Grade School from 1948-1981.
She is a member of Chenoa United Methodist Church, Chenoa Womans Club. She volunteered at The Chenoa Stepping Stones, Watch Me Read at Chenoa Grade School, and Meadow Mennonite Retirement Community. She enjoyed art and travel.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to Meadow Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa United Methodist Church or donor's choice of charity.
