Colfax – Linda Louise Fry, 66, of Colfax, peacefully passed away at 11;51pm, February 12, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure and diabetes.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Pastor Michelle Giermann will be officiating.
Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Colfax United Methodist Church.
Linda was born November 17, 1956, in Leon, IA, the daughter of Fird Douglas and Anna Lee Brandecamp Hill. She married Francis M. Fry on June 16, 1972. He survives.
Also surviving are her daughter, Angela (Seann) Scharfenberg of Colfax; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Joseph) Lerman, Kaley (Zach) Hadley, Michael Hadley, and Jaedyn (Ross Bellot) Hadley; two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Leighland Lerman. siblings, Louis (Sharon) Hill of Mountain Hill, AR, Doug (Donna) Hill of Leon, IA and Kay (Linn) Armstrong of Halfway, MO; sister-in-law, Shelda Hill of Leon, IA; and brother-in-law, Rod Smith of Bedford, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Linda attended school in Cainsville, MO and Decatur County, IA and the attended Graceland Community College in Lamoni, IA, where she studied social services. Later Linda became a CNA and worked at various nursing homes and hospitals.
Linda loved animals, especially her cat Sammy Cat and two puppies, Roman and Arlee. They brought her so much joy.
She loved showing pictures and telling everyone about them. Linda loved spending time with her family. She was very involved with her grandchildren and loved being a part of their daily activities and cheering them on at school events and personal achievements.
Linda worked with her daughter for over 20 years helping run a home daycare.
Linda loved to talk to people. She made friends everywhere she went. Her spunky personality, smile, laugh, and caring heart will always be remembered and missed.
It would be wrong to say that Linda lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Linda stayed strong. We know what resilience and perseverance truly looked like. There was no quitting. Her joy for life and her family kept her pushing through the pain. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister aunt and niece. She loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them.
Linda's legacy is of perseverance through tough times and remembering what is really important in life is to love, support and care for your friends and family.
