Obituary

Logan Otis Cox, 93, the fourth of five children of Amos Franklin and Ethel Ward Cox, died at 10:15pm Monday, January 28, 2013 at Freedom Village, Bradenton, FL. He was born May 3, 1919, on the 200-acre family farm in Livingston County, IL, midway between Cropsey and Fairbury.

Logan attended the Cropsey two room grade school and graduated from Cropsey High School in 1936. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1940. His primary interest at the time was basketball.

Logan worked briefly for Funk Brothers until drafted into the horse Cavalry of the US Army, June 25, 1941. His division became part of the US Air Force, where he served for twenty years, retiring as Major on June 30, 1964.

After his military retirement, Logan worked at First Federal Bank of Chicago, Aetna Bank and retired as Vice President from Glenview State Bank, all in Illinois.

He married Jane Carlson in Los Angeles, August 7, 1944 who died June 2, 1978. He is survived by three sons; Thomas (Debi), Steven (Mary), Timothy and grandchildren; Sean, Bill, Jonathan (Lesley), David (Melanie) and Timothy. He had two great grandchildren, Jeremy and Talia. His second wife Dorothy Federico Deasy whom he married on July 27, 1985 also survives. Dorothy has two daughters, Theresa Deasy and Dorothy (James) Walz.

Logan and Dorothy lived at Freedom Village in Bradenton, FL.

Logan was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne (Bernice), sister, Emma Louise (Maurice) McGill, sister, Beulah (Stanley) Barnes, and brother, Gene (Patricia).

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Paulette Cott officiating. Burial will be in Cropsey Twp. Cemetery, Cropsey, IL with full military rites conducted by the Fairbury VFW and American Legion posts. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:30 to 10:15am Saturday at the memorial home.
