Obituary

Lois M. Bazzell, 73, Fairbury, passed away at 6:17pm Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at OSF St. James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury, with Pastor Dan Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 12 – 2pm Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to South East Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS).

Lois was born August 27, 1949 in Fairbury, IL; the daughter of Kenneth and Rose (Faw) Hornsby. They both precede her in death.

Lois is survived by her three sons: Lyle Bazzell, Fairbury; Kyle Bazzell, Concord, NC; and Chad Bazzell, Fairbury. Also surviving are her five sisters: Judy (Bill) Moore, Pontiac; Barb (Chuck) Bull, Fairbury; Betty (Larry) Ray, Fairbury; Kathy Abels, Forrest; and Alice (Dale) Bunting, Washington, IL. Lois also survived by: three grandchildren; Jennifer (AJ) Jimenez, Jarrett Chase Bazzell, Blake Bazzell, and two great-grandchildren; Mateo & Luca Jimenez. Also surviving is the father of her children, Larry Zeke Bazzell, Fairbury.

In 1975 Lois became a certified EMT and was one of the first female members of the SELCAS ambulance crew. She also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, making plastic canvas decorations for the holidays and her cat Whitey.  Lois was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by many.
