Lois Sutton, 85, Mahomet and formerly of Colfax, went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2011 in Mahomet. For the past several years, she was cared for by her sons Bob and Jim, Jim's wife Adrienne and her grandson Chad. She was quite certain that her loving husband Lyle would be at Heaven's gate awaiting her arrival.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Colfax with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax .
Visitation will be 9:00-10:00am also on Saturday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the Lyle R. Sutton Memorial Scholarship Fund of Ridgeview High School c/o Anchor State Bank, Anchor, IL 61720.
Mrs. Sutton was born December 1, 1925 in El Paso a twin daughter of Earl and Mary McWilliams Parkhouse. She married Lyle R. Sutton on March 17, 1944 in El Paso. He died October 6, 2008.
Surviving is one daughter, Linda Rauch, Bloomington, four sons, Jim (Adrienne) Sutton, Mahomet, Dick (Jeanne)Sutton, Bloomington, IL, Bob (Cindy) Sutton, Atlanta, IL, Bill (Connie) Sutton, Lexington, IL, one brother, James (Ruth) Parkhouse, of Mission Viejo, CA; her twin sister, Louise Ohaire of Shelly, ID; 13 grandchildren; and,17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Lois and Lyle resided in Colfax where they worked and raised their family for over 50 years. They were active with the community, the Ridgeview school district and with St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Lois enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching old Western movies and playing cards.
