Obituary

Chenoa: Lorene K. Reimer, 93, of rural Chenoa passed away at 12:50 am, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, rural Chenoa.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Meadows Mennonite Church, Meadows, with Pastor Steve Estes officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday May 27, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington.

Lorene was born December 27, 1914 in rural Congerville, a daughter to Simon and Barbara (Reeser) Heiser. She married John A. Reimer January 10, 1932 in Eureka. He passed away December 8, 2006, one month before their 75th wedding anniversary.

Surviving are four sons; Robert (Janice) Reimer, Carlock; Jack(Jeanette) Reimer, Gridley; John J.(Kay ) Reimer, Normal; and James (Ellen) Reimer, Lexington; two daughters, Linda (Roger) Clemmons, Bloomington; and Janice (Edward) Kiper, LeRoy; nineteen grandchildren, Susan Sifford, Sandra Wilson, Pam Rosa, Patricia Reimer, Judy Nafziger, Julie Zimmerman, Jay Reimer, Janet Reeser, Jeff Reimer, Roger Reimer, Dennis Reimer, Sharon Dickinson, Lisa Clemmons Stott, Amy Clemmons, David Kiper, Laura Myers, Brian Reimer, Jon Reimer, and Michelle Swierczek; thirty one great-grandchildren, one sister; Dorothy Nafziger, Tucson, AZ and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, two sisters and two granddaughters.

The Reimer's farmed for 25 years in the Eureka-Washington area and moved to their farm near Lexington in 1957. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed a large vegetable and flower garden for many years. In 1975 they moved to the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community and spent 20 winters in Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed quilting, making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Meadows Mennonite Church and was active in Women in Mission and the church choir. She volunteered at the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community and the Spare and Share Shoppe in Gridley. Lorene was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, or the Mennonite Central Committee.
