Chenoa: Lyle "Pete" Chapman, 81, of Chenoa died at 9:15pm Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Heritage Manor, El Paso.
His funeral mass will be 10:30am Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Chenoa with full military rites conducted by the American Legion post #234 and the VFW post #8350 both of Chenoa.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday, August 14, 2006 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with a rosary to be recited at 7pm.
Mr. Chapman was born November 1, 1924 at Bloomington, IL. The son of Louis E. and Nellie A. Dunn Chapman. He married Lois Marie Miller September 27, 1947 at Pontiac, IL. She survives at Chenoa.
Also surviving are 4 sons: Pat (Sharon) Chapman, Pontiac, Michael (Liz) Chapman, Jacksonville, FL, Gary (Jackie) Chapman, Sunrise, FL and Todd Chapman, Akapolei, Hawaii. 8 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter and 6 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Kathy Chapman and a twin sister, Mary Angela Chapman.
Mr. Chapman was a 1942 graduate of Chenoa Twp. High School. He later served as a rifleman in the US Army Calvary during WWII. He was a farmer and had been employed by the State of Illinois for 20 years.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa, a 60 year member of the American Legion post #234 and VFW post #8350.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
